All abilities matter, and whether or not the said abilities can triumph over another ability completely depends on the individuals using them. What sets Haki apart from the DF abilities is the fact that it has no limits. I mean, you could be Gol D. Roger but there is a limit to how strong you could become using Bara Bara no Mi. Yeah, I know I used a weak ability as an example. It's to let you know that even Roger can only get so far with a devil's fruit despite his high potential.
Obviously, some devil's fruits have a very high ceiling but still, there is a limit to it. Kaido, for example, needed to hone his Haki skills despite reaching his fruit's fullest potential—Yes, he awakened his fruit whether it was mentioned or not. And his fruit is one of the strongest there is.
Haki, however, doesn't have such a limit. The user's potential is the only thing that's limiting the Haki form growing. Besides, none of what Kaido said prevents DF users from mastering their Haki although their Haki wouldn't be as powerful as pure Haki users because they need to split their time and potential b/w Haki and devil's fruit. Whitebeard was predominantly an ability user, yet he was equal to Roger. So there is no need to act like DFs are suddenly second-grade powers just because Haki received some hype.
