afaik you expected rooftop to extend til 1020/1021. So you already lowered your expectations for some of those episodes, which i can get behind since nailing 6-7 episodes back to back is a herculean, unfeasible task.
But now knowing that they're increasing the pacing which is *good* they don't need to nail 6-7 episodes (1015-1021) they only need to nail 4 episodes. Which when looking at recent developments is definetly possible if the management is smart.
But now they can't even do justice to these 4 apparently and focus on making the Tama Chapter memorable?
That'd be unacceptable. The OP Team has 4 great PA's with Aoki, shiraishi, Tokita & Mineta. Give each PA 1 Rooftop episode and they can get good animators on it. Each of them has a few contacts, or they can work with each other & help each other out. Such a thing could've been planned out long in advance roughly.

1018 also has the title "against the yonkou". It will definetly cover the fight from 1003. I can imagine 1018 ending when the CP0 dialogue scene starts.
But yeah... I still don't see where your hopefulness comes from. I don't want to paint the devil on the wall consistently but if literally no one is even mentioning 1016 & 1018 that's extremely concerning.
Even 1001 was hyped up a week or longer prio and that just had 1 notable scene.

I'll gladly take everything back if i'm proven wrong. But all signs point to that conclusion, it's quite unbelievable honestly. again the thing that makes me angry the most is that they're going all out for the tama episode. At least more than for the rooftop episode prior. That's so crazy to think about

I will admit I have no idea why the Tama episode is the one getting focused on. That seems like a strange choice. As long as 1018 is still a pretty solid episode with cool action even if it doesn't have a great directorial team I'll be satisfied.

I'm still worried for 1016 and 1018, but I'm hoping they're still somewhat decent. I think 1016 will at least be well directed with Koyama at the head, 1017 seems like the big hype episode, and 1018 seems strangely unmentioned.

Again, I think its a matter of just waiting to see how it turns out.

Maybe the hack & break helped them (copium) to get some people on it... praying on someone from the World Trigger crew since we just had Takumi Yamamoto helping out on 1015 and they seem to be free apparently.
1017 should be safe and then 1018 is the big, big questionmark as you mentioned.

I know for a fact that there are a lot of Zoro fans among the staff lol.

I'd think that at the very least Zoro's big moment in that episode would be well done(or at least somewhat noticeable and polished) even if the other area's of action are potentially lacking.

Like, Midori Matsuda is a confirmed Zoro fan. I doubt that they'd let a moment like that go by without recieving some kind of special treatment, even if it is just in comparison to the rest of the episode.

The only character who I think will extensively feature CG is Kid, which is fair. Since Kid's ability is a pain in the ass to draw, and I wouldn't say its really the pull of the action anyway.

before someone pointed it out to me, i didnt notice Kids CG arm. The linefilter really covered it up well. I'll have to see how it looks like for his big moves. I know choppers tank looks blatantly CG occasionally which is off putting, so i hope there'll be something more natural. Hard to describe.

Also... Aoki really is the best P.A. on one piece right now. Ever since he joined his episodes have consistently featured notable staff. He's been a blessing. Mineta & Tokita are good as well but they are inconsistent. Sometimes they pull the big guns, sometimes they just cover a lowkey episode.

Just something i noticed while analyzing the PA's of the past 70 episodes today. With the new PA Shiraishi joining twitter, i hope he can also invite a lot of twitter folks and animators. Then we'd have 4/7 good PA's on OP

Apparently Tu for the episodes he handles as animation supervisor sort of does the production assistant type job and can bring in loads of Chinese animators. I believe that was the case for episodes 972 and to a lesser extent 982.

Also, just want a shout out Jakisuaki's scene on the episode. It was shorter than his scene on 982, but it was still insanely good.

Wasnt hack 6 weeks or am i trippin? If we go by 1 chapter per episode we should been around 1006 rn
