Didnt master his fruit? He has been unbeatable, tanking everyshit thrown at him, beating everyone to a pulp. How will you justify it if not for devil fruit and haki mastery? There is no chance of Wano ending soon if Kaido is not awakened yet. So it is best to assume that he is Kaido because he already has awakened the fruit.
