Kaido pulling awakening out of his ass is FAR better than neither Yonko canonically using awakening imo lol.
Kaido is going "toe to toe" with base Luffy in 1037. Then he's going "toe to toe" with him again in 1042. Now he's going "toe to toe" with him in G5. There really isn't a reason he can't awaken and Luffy continues to go "toe to toe" with him, just like he did with Luffy for 2 powerups.

Haki is already setup and explained, and stated that most people in the New World has it
Awakening it's not like that at all
it's rare and powerfull, every time it's used, it's noted and talked about

Nah Oda wouldn't state for every single character that they have CoA and CoO, haki is a lot more common than awakening.
Kaido and BM do not have it until stated otherwise, he always confirms it for other characters when they used but not for actual top tiers?
Especially awakened mythical zoan need explaining.
