In whole story sea devil is reference only one time. In chapter 2.

He definitely has reason to stay in wano because he occupied it for 20 years

But kaido has no place nor he can be defeated.


He fought 15 people in a gauntlet while carrying an island all the time.

He is hyped as the strongest with no one capable enough to defeat him.

Even if he loses here then he is still the strongest because Luffy didn't beat him in proper 1 vs 1. So, he has to go down no matter what.

This is also important to save future opponents (BB and others) to get proper hype because as long as kaido is alive they will be number two

Or BB simply becomes stronger than Kaido, easy fix.

- I'm against "this villain needs his flashed out backstory before his defeat". I think Kaido is a very poor character and it isn't a flashback after 140 chapters that it's going to fix it.
- Doesn't mean it has to be now. Can be done post fight.
- It's not important. You think it is, but it really isn't. Momo's development is an internal one. The people will support him anyway already. He doesn't need witnesses. He needs to mature. It's not something that happens because someone saw him doing something. Stop this nonsense.
- Maybe we get a "shadow asgard" moment from Kaido right as the sun rises.
- this "weakest form" thing is nothing but a fanmade headcanon based on Oda explicitly contradictory writing. Also, the assumption that it didnt boost him enough is just that, an assumption.
- Can happen next chapter.
- All these things can be done AFTER the fight. Ennies Lobby didn't end as soon as Luffy beat Lucci. Chill.

The weakest form thing isn't even based on the writing. Oda says zoans are the strongest form and consistently shows full zoans as having the most raw strength even if they're not as fast or precise

Kaidou had dropped Onigashima before Luffy punched him, so Kaidou had been expending energy to lift Onigashima the entire time. Holy crap.

He simultaneously uses island-destroying attacks and at the same time keeps the island levitated.

before roger made it to laugh tale, people would become pirates just for the fun of it.
after roger started the great pirate era, every new pirate aiming for the one piece across 20 years were basically wasting their time.

I don't know why people expect Kaido to be this intriguing villain with an amazing backstory. The "brains" of this operation was Joker. Kaido was just the muscle. They were were supposed to be together in Wano, but Oda split them up. That dynamic still stands though.

We saw since the start Kaido was just a reckless, suicidal dude.

It's the king of the Vodka Kingdom who sells Kaidou to the Navy for a certain reason (although I can't tell yet, it's clearly stated in the chapter). In fact we see Kaidou in the throne room in chains and being taken away by several Marines. But he then he escapes from them.
