If this chapter truly is all there is to Kaido's backstory then its pretty disappointing ngl, especially considering how much it could have been and how much Oda was hinting towards it.
I can't believe i'm saying this, but even Big Mom's backstory is better than kaido's.
Oda gives 12 chapters for Loden, but just 4 pages for Kaido, really??
What makes this worse is that Kaido genuinely could have been one of the best antagonist in the series, held only back by his unclear motivations before this chapter came out. I said before that how good a villian Kaido would become would depend on his flashback and backstory since Oda hasn't given much of an effort to develop and explain Kaido's motivations, only hints and teases through the words that kaido say and through the flashbacks of other characters like King and Yamato. The flashback didn't really reveal anything interesting that wasn't already hinted or teased before.
