Different people may have different peak ages. And Shanks is too murky of a debate because we haven't seen a single attack from him and we don't know why Kaido considers him to be at his level.

Mihawk. He's the best swordsman of his time. Oden is very strong but I dont think he was the best of his time.

Because of the energy that the slash carries lol. More than being "meant to cut Human" it was more about "not being meant to cut Diamond". And how does it matter whether he has human flesh on half his face when he blocked the attack using his diamond parts? You think BOAT isn't a thing in One Piece?

One thing Ill give Jozu is his physical strength though, he was able to stop that massive slash when Fujitora was being pushed back by a tiny Zoro slash in comparision.

It's funny how people make fun of Mihawk because of Jozu and Vista, wherein:

-WB got scared of Kaido
-WB got his body pierced by Veteran Level Squidward
-Kaido screamed in pain by YC3 Killer Sonic Attack
-Kaido got scarred by Zoro, who's even weaker than Mihawk even after he wakes up
-Kaido's dragon slashes which damaged Sun God Nika got neg-diffed by Zoro's casual parry slash
-Big Mom got clowned so many times
-Shanks got scarred by YC level Teach
-Shanks couldn't get the WSS title from Mihawk
-Shanks wanted to settle fight with Mihawk, but Mihawk was not in mood, Shanks offered drinks instead lol, He could've fight Mihawk if he wanted

-Jozu took many seconds using Diamond Body before he could re-direct Mihawk's casual Slash, wherein Zoro not only neg-diffed but also cut Kaido's Wind Slash
-Vista couldn't connect a single hit on Mihawk, Kaido got hit twice by YC3 Laughing Killer
-Even Nika Plot Armor protected Luffy from getting arms cut off from Mihawk

Where he defended with his diamond parts. His physical strength was also highlighted along with his diamond defense since Fujitora was being pushed back by a tiny slash from Zoro.
