Character Discussion How is Tama a “good guy”

#46
Tama is just a plot device. But she enslaved bad guys,so i guess that makes her a good girl. She was just defending her homeland afterall.

Every Gifter is basically her slave and she can manipulate their free will to serve her. I think when Oda was thinking of an easy to use plot-device…he fumbled the bag with her.
I honestly don't think it was meant to be cute. Tama actively commits war crime/crimes against humanity on the daily. The difference between her and the celestial dragons is that Tama does not fully comprehend the morality of her actions she is like 8.

Or she used her power on pirates who invaded and ravaged her home land and were responsible for death of parents and thousands of her and the celestial dragons buy or take who ever they want even innocent people, theres large difference.

tama is a good person but the morals concerning her ability are questionable, originally her ability is only supposed to work on wild animals, and there's nothing wrong about that, but the twist about it being effective on human smile users is a very recent development and that's where things starts to become complicated because the human free will is a sacred subject.

we're all aware of her strong desire to help the allies, and the only way she knows can help is by turning enemies into allies (as raizo and usopp described it) through her ability.
she has been guided to it by luffy the one first who told her to use her ability on a human, and luffy is a conqueror, making use of other people is an essential part of a conqueror's nature same as breaking enemies will or bending them to the conqueror's will, besides the beast pirates are scum who lost their humanity so fuck them anyway.

she's a lonely kid who just wants company, her abilities help in that regard, although the effect only lasts for a month.

i don't like how oda used her in the war, children don't belong in the battlefield, but ongashima has been an amusement park so no worries.

If oda kept tamas powers to tame animals then it wouldnt be getting this much flack. lines get crossed when humans get involed.

Honestly this is an accurate way of describing this whole ordeal. People had issues with Tama being able to control Smile users since her powers originally only works on animals, so I kinda get why this bothers people. But this also removes the context of who exactly she took control of, i.e the scum that are the Beast Pirates, who starved her people and beat them down continuously. Is it a morally grey area to do so? Yeah maybe, but she's been shown she had no interest in enslaving them, only to get their help, and once the effects wears off she even says some animals just go back to do their own thing and some stay behind because they like her, I feel like this whole argument about her being a bad person is extremely forced.
