Another thought on this:

Imagine if the quote was someone saying,
"We will never see another pirate as great as Roger!"
or
"We will never see another cook as great as X"

Everyone would immediately recognize that the statement is specifically set up to be proven wrong by Luffy & Sanji respectively.

The "monster samurai" quote is clearly set up for Zoro to prove it wrong. Just saying.
Luffybros did recognize that the monster samurai stuff was about Luffy :shame:

Sorry, I was over-exaggerating. I've just seen everyone assuming that every single Zoro plotline remaining will be addressed through the grave stuff...and I just don't see why or how that would be the case

Getting Zoro's backstory post-arc where it plays no role in the actual plot doesn't seem to make much sense given that Zoro is being set up to actually be recognized by the people of Wano & treated as a samurai figure capable of protecting them.

I think the focus should be more on Kaido's "monster samurai" comment than Ryuma's grave.
