It's not even just that these characters words don't become reality that I have a problem with because that'd be asinine, but rather that these characters either seem to forget they ever made such statements, or they fail to fulfill their words, but yet don't reflect on how they failed and try to figure out how to ensure success of making their words into physical existence next time, which make people takeaway that these character will spout anything out of their mouths for no reason, which makes us question their actual belief in their words.
