Oda built up the fight since SA.
Honestly the way Oda hasn't developed the rest of the SH ,power wise , doesn't leave room for much.
We saw how easy he was dealt by Peros in the previous arc.. Sadly can't really see him taking on someone of that calibre just yet,unless heavy match up is involved In 1vs 1.
Possible team up along with other members changes things.
With a possible match up and team up he could face a number and deal with him like this.

I don't think that he will be able to defeat him with his current power but we already see that already 5 strawhats has power ups (Luffy(advanced haki) , Zoro(Enma) , Sanji(RS) , Nami(Zeus), Usopp (CoO) )- the east blue characters first-. so even Brook and the others will get power ups. so my assumptiuon he will be able to defeat Apo if he got a power up as well
Be honest, without any power up or training(I don´t know if Brook do something in the last 10days) he will still get trashed by Apoo. Brook need haki, I mean every strawhat member who isn´t Sanji;Luffy or Zoro need haki. We remember how Brook and Chopper get neg diffed by Perospero, how Brook crying out later because he was so weak? I hope Brook and the other strawhats training as Zoro and Luffy did, if not I see very big problems in the fire festival war. And with making a team up doesn´t help Brook and co either, their enemies having more mid tiers and more and bigger army, they are outnumbered in totally, they don´t have the choice to fight in team groups.
But I still wait until we see the fire festival event. After that I can probably say more, for now without any powerup, Brook get trashed by Apoo...

Imagine you and your pal get no diffed by Perospero who is chilled ... you even begging for your life
A Supernova is too much for Brook. Yeah, he got the balls and faced BM but she never wanted to really harm him so it's way too different from a fight with Apoo who I doubt would avoid going for the kill.
Even if he somehow learns haki right now, there's no way it would be enough to beat Apoo who would have a much better control of it.
He was no match for Perospero and I'll make a wild guess that Perospero would be on par with the Flying Six as very strong fighters below YCs.
Maybe we see some other non-Supernova headliners that are legit competent fighters but below F6 and this is a level I think Brook could deal with.
