I see some software companies jump on the subscription bandwagon and getting ideas from the gaming industry to exploit people as much as possible, to rake in even more money than usual, all the time instead of one-off lifetime purchases or annual purchases at least, to monthly subscriptions with even ranked tiers for more features, support and s uch.

They want us to only have online based access to everything and never have it offline and especially without payment upfront, nothing for free, nothing offline. All paywalled. I fucking hate that so much, its truly dystopian.

Even the deliberate transistion of games becoming "live services" instead makes me sick beyond words. Especially as a former aspiring game designer too.

I wanted Photoshop for most of my life, especially when I was really into image editing and such but I got so used to the free software which has lasted me easily almost 20 years at least! Still going strong too for now! Ironically its called GIMP too LMAO! So awkward to mention it!



But yeah, that online monthly subscription is what I hate so much. I refused to get into World of Warcraft MANY years ago due to that alone lol.

Gimp is shit but i've been using it when I waa younger. These days i almost stopped drawing at all

Extreme work crunch, a lot of sexual and just downright misogynistic abuse, extreme financial manipulation/abuse, greed and such. Its a VERY long story.
Publishers/developers have openly worked with psychologists and gambling associations to turn games into the most addictive virtual casinos/gacha simulators they can and exploit people as much possible, just like casinos ofc and advertisers, the beauty and fashion industries and such ofc.

There was the GamerGate incident too which caused a massive civil war in the games industry back in 2014 I think and went on for a few years and almost made a full on resurgence not long ago either. All about intergrity of and ethics in gaming journalism and when those are abused and such too. Its complicated.
Think the nonsense with politics especially modern politics but put it into gaming and you get the idea.

Lots of issues with slavery, forced overtime (crunch) with no extra pay, Activision Blizzard workers idolising Bill Cosby for what he did, his crimes I mean specifically, stealing breast milk from working mothers at their headquarters and such.

Its an absolute downward spiral of depravity and despair.
