Character Discussion Wano characters that weren't needed?

1. The Yakuza bosses. Did literally nothing.

2. Kiku. Did nothing. Was only there for trans representation.

3. Kawamatsu. Did nothing. Denjiro could have been the one watching over Hiyori from the get-go, and then Kawamatsu would have absolutely no role in the story.

4. Ashura Doji. Like Kawamatsu, his character and accomplishments could have been merged into Denjiro. Make Denjiro the former Kuri gang leader that Oden had to defeat (which would be fitting since he went on to become a Yakuza boss later on). Make Denjiro the one that was funding the rebels in Kuri and stole the Onigashima blueprints (which would make more sense anyways since Denjiro was close to Orochi). The only useful thing Ashura Doji did in Onigashima was stop the Oden drawing from blowing up the Scabbards, which never needed to happen anyways.

5. Raizo. All he did was have a pointless fight with Fukurokuju, and be the reason why Jack came to Zou. Oda could have just had Kaido find out that 2 of the Scabbards are ruling Zou. which would prompt him to send Jack there to take care of them. Or Kanjuro could have been the Scabbard on Zou that Jack was looking for. This would make his betrayal sting even harder since the Minks risked their lives to protect him. Also, Kanjuro could easily fill the role of being the token ninja amongst the Scabbards. Kanjuro would make much more sense as a ninja than as a samurai anyways since he barely uses a sword, and his drawings could easily be considered ninjutsu.

6. The Numbers. Complete waste of a cool concept.

7. The BMPs. They did nothing but sit on their boat the entire time. Even Perospero's presence didn't really matter on Onigashima, so he wasn't needed either. If it was actually Carrot who defeated Perospero, his presence would be justified since defeating him would be important for her character. But instead, his defeat ended up being a damp squib since he got defeated by Neko, who had no connection to Perospero, after an offscreened fight.

8. Hawkins. Did nothing but have an unnecessary fight with Killer. Just kill him off during the TS

9. All of the named Gifters.

Kawamatsu and Denjiro serve the same role.

Kiku serves no role but I like her.

Ashura Doji serves no discernible role other than being a tough samurai.

Izo serves no discernible role.

Cipher Pol Agents didn’t really serve any role.

Brook didn’t serve any role.

Hawkins, Apoo and X Drake were padding and could’ve been axed earlier in the arc.

Jack didn’t serve any role.

Yamato didn’t serve any role

Yamato- waste of panels and time. She was so useless that you can remove her and the plot remains the same. Put Hyori in her place (as the tomboy samurai that she was hinted to be) and the story would be 10 times better.

Hyori- waste of panels. See above for what I would have instead.

Half of the scabbards- obvious.

BM/BMP- they shouldn't be in the manga and the BM is the worst thing that Oda did. He made BM weak for no reason and dumber as if she was in the middle of her hunger pains.

Kid- waste of panels. Weak ass fighter that only rode on Law's back without doing anything.

Numbers- another waste of space.

Kaido- This one wasn't because of being needed but how it was handled. Kaido was strong but the way he was handled sucked ass. If someone could rewrite wano and work again with Kaido to make him make sense it would be the best.

1) About 1/2 of the Scabbards. There only really needs to be four or five, certainly not nine. A lot of them could be rolled into each other.

One mink Duke (Neko or Inu).
One traitor character (Kanjuro or rewrite a different character).
One Scabbard left behind 20 years ago (Denjiro).
One bodyguard sent to future with Momo (Kinemon).

2) The Big Mom Pirates. They just do not need to be here at all. Only Perospero and Linlin got to do anything, the others kept getting stalled by a waterfall. Perospero got gubbed by Neko which was weird since there wasn't any connection between those two. Meanwhile, Linlin just got consistently humiliated in ridiculous ways (e.g. waterfall and amnesia plot).

3) CP0 again just don't need to be here. There doesn't even need to be one to inform the World Government of what is going on since X Drake is there.

4) The Yakuza bosses did literally nothing. They might as well have not existed.

5) Some Supernovas. Hawkins and Apoo did sod all. Apoo dicked around and Hawkins just died a pathetic death.

6) The Numbers are just overgrown fodder.

8) Urashima the sumo wrestler, just.... Why was panel time even dedicated to this lump of lard?

9) Yamato. All she did was either stall a character or run up staircases. That is it.

10) Tama is technically useful but Toko's character could be combined with her's.

Numbers gonna be relevant in the story later since they probably tie in to the aforementioned "giantification" project.
