So there are very good arguments to assume one cannot sense the presence of a person who has merged with inorganic material and brought it to "life" (the golem and biscuit soldiers getting eyes and a voice).

So you, at least can't deem Zoro's CoO bad because he couldn't sense Pica. Because based on evidence you cannot claim that a CoO user can sense Pica within the stone. Maybe there exist elite level CoO user who can sense Pica like Madada can recognize clones with the Sharingan. But Sanji ain't one of them.

But Zoro activated breath of all things already pre TS. Not only being able to cut down Daz with his iron body but literally sense the presence of every object, dead or alive. Sensing stones, sensing that his blade lies beneath the rock. An ability Zoro only had to learn how to use at will. And maybe him sensing the sake from a mile away is him using breath of all things at will.

Breath of all things is an advanced Form of both CoA and CoO.
