Akainu is a joke, really. I always thought that the whole Marineford series of events was a total fluke to him. He lucked out, from Ace's arrest to Whitebeard being betrayed by one of his own, to Teach showing up and WB dying, to Ace's own death.
All of it was just dumb luck for Akainu. Who is merely an extremist and a fanatic.
I find Smoker to be much more badass. Generally speaking.

Akainu has no plan other than sheer force. Sometimes that works, most of the times it does not. in real life and in OP.

One promising sign is the marines wiretapping Croc/Mihawk (who diddn't care as they probably knew it was going on) and wiretapping the RA. At last, some intelligence!
