Because he is gonna be final pirate villain for Luffy that is for the throne.
There is hell lot going on here.
1) Both are Ds
2)Luffy and BB are polar opposite yet similar
3) BB is responsible for Ace getting captured and he told Luffy that his intention was to capture him but Ace sacrificed himself for his Lil bro riling Luffy more
4)BB crew parallels SH crew
This fight is never about PG as it looks like. There is more to it.
BB has abnormal body and possibly has 3rd df.
On the other hand, law df is known for giving user the ability to seize world power.
And, this fight is running parallel to Vp arc which will give us df lore.
Many also speculates BB being like Xebec and he is connecting to both God Valley incident and Rocky port.
Just connect the dots and you will see why BB is so important

He is working with Akainu and no one knows not even WG.
This chapter is big hint - fight just got started and somehow Akainu knows immediately but he still choose to do nothing.
Second, when Gorosei asked Akainu about what to do with kuzan who joined BB then Akainu said it's not his business as kuzan left Navy - you don't expect such things from man of Absolute Justice.
