Except Eren was trying to detach himself from the killings very hard. He started being extremely cold after deciding upon his path post skip - classic detachment to be able to do all the horrors.

It was only at this moment that he snapped and he revealed reluctance (again because he was talking to his best friend). Really nothing unusual with being scared even with resolve to die. And people do work like that.

Again, you're mentioning days before his death like that matters; these are specific conditions where he is talking to Armin and it just came out.

Yes, everyone and their mama already knows the ending of AOT is horrible however imagine that ending lasting for over 10 years because that is exactly what Luffy is. Oda One Piece the past 10 years is basically AOT ending being stretched out. The ending of AOT lasted one year my guys, chill out lmao.

Eren was never good but he became bad from S3 onwards. Absolute cringe from him in S4 and the ending was hilarious due to his worshippers melting down.

Luffy at least has high points early on.

Eren's character was ruined at the most important moment, he cancel himself, undoing his own Rumbling Declaration about winning and massacring everything outside Paradise. If he fulfilled that purpose, he will be the best shonen MC of all times imo. But by the way Isayama EXECUTES his character at the manga's finale, i'd say Luffy (a poorly developed character, a simpleton who can only spout PK for life and Freedom for life) is a tremendously better character.
