Marco having a Phoenix fruit and king being a lunarian dont stop them from being conquerors or stop them from mastering their fruits or stop them from having some type of haki mastery

The reason they don't have those abilities isn't because they're too special its because they aren't special enough

Like not every lunarian is going to be important, relevant, or even strong. Same thing with people with mythical zoans

Being a conqueror is something that automatically makes you stick out more than anyone else without it

Mastering awakening is going to speak alot for your skill especially in comparison to those who cant achieve it

It doesn't stop them from having those abilities but they make them stronger than they're supposed to be. Having awakening makes you about as special as Impel Down beasts while having CoC level-1 makes you about as relevant as Don Chinjao. That's not as special as you're pretending to be. Being a Lunarian and having regeneration is both rare and special beyond CoC and awakening. Literally, all Shichibukai were replaced with a 13-year-old Lunarian's juice. Marco is directly responsible for BB becoming a Yonko. You're living under a rock if you think the likes of Katakuri and Doffy are more special than that.

I still don't want to believe it. Until today when I think about it, it still feels too shitty to be true.
Yet here we are: Kaido, Big Mom, King, all of them don't have awakening.

While even pre TS opponents like ID beasts have one. While even previous enemy who shitted himself about Kaido has one. While even now, the returning loser of Rob Lucci also has 1.

How come Kaido, the World Strongest Creature, the "in 1 vs 1 always bets on Kaido" guy, the generally agreed by most as previous Top 1 until his downfall, doesn't have awakening...

Then I think about the possible excuse:
- Kaido didn't use Awakening on Wano because he is dividing his stamina on Wano by lifting Onigashima. He can't do both awakening and lifting Onigashima at the same time.
So basically, Wano Kaido was nerfed.
- Big Mom didn't use Awakening, maybe because she is already too old for that. Her old age can't use Awakening anymore, although weirdly she never said or hinted about it during Wano.
- Can't find the excuse for King. But I forget too, whether Katakuri also shown it in WCI.
Still, if the likes of Lucci and Doffy have it, then at very least characters like King and Katakuri should have one too.

Oda can't even use excuses like "too dangerous" like how Yamamoto, Shinji, Urahara, Kyoraku etc iirc couldn't randomly activate their bankai because it would be dangerous to their allies. We know that wasn't the case for zoan awakening.

The only logical answer for Linlin/Kaido not having awakening is this;

Mind and body need to grow / match the fruit of the user to awaken it.

Linlin's mentally deficient and in deep denial about eating her childhood friends + her caretaker.
Kaido is suicidal and deeply troubled by his past battle with Oden.
(King is likely too subservient for a ferocious ancient zoan fruit to awaken)

So the only explanation I can reasonably... Somewhat accept (but am still not happy with) is that Linlin & Kaido's personality flaws prevented them from awakening their fruits. I hate it, I think it's dumb, but if Oda dropped a text bubble and explained it that way, I'd get over it.

Lucci having awakening just to get ragdolled, get back up and run away is ass though. CP0 better not leave Egghead after this wasted time on them, that'll be Greenbull 2.0 in terms of plots that go no where.

You get the point, genius.

The stronger Kaido, BM, and King are, the less sense it is if they don't have awakening.
Sure, not every Yonko should have higher stats than their crewmember. King has higher dura than Kaido. Katakuri has higher CoO than BM. Marco can fly while Whitebeard can't. Etc.
But it is really shit when characters like Kaido, BM, King don't have awakening while losers like Lucci, coward like Doffy, scrubs like ID beasts have it.

If you think about it, it makes even less sense if someone beastly like Yama and Kyoraku don't have bankai.
That's what happened with Kaido and King here.

At least Kubo gave us extra material down the road to explain unseen bankai (like Shinji's) and intends to explore more characters in the TYBW anime + the NO BREATHS FROM HELL specials.
