Luffy knew before any of the supernova hakai was happening. Being the first to call it out and first one on the offense after. Their was no point of luffy risking his body tryna block it when they wouldn't be able to win without him

Imo, BB has always been the roadblock to One Piece and not the EoS.
Whitebeards death speech makes that pretty clear: He's not the one to find One Piece and carry centuries of history on his back (i.e. the true history) to fight the WG.
That immediately seems to suggest that he must go down before Luffy becomes PK, or at least IS the fight for Pirate King.
