I put my faith in Garp being his master and the focus Oda gave to his Haki awakening.

Not 100% on board but he has grew at a ridiculous rate.

There are still light years from "growing at a very fast pace" to "being able to battle Lucci/Hancock/YC". Especially considering just how weak he was pre-skip.

Kuzan is certainely working to undermine BB in the end. There is also @PuckTheGreat's theory of him being part of a secret marine organization working as a secret resistance against the WG corruption and cruel aspects.
