Van gaal trash talked Argentina will lose when it comes to penalty.

Dalic does not need to talk he knows he'll win when it comes to penalties since they are king of penalties kek.
I read somewhere that some of the beef between Van Gaal and Messi is due to the formers treatment of Riquelme

Dont see anything wrong with it.
Same rules were on play in the Szczesny penalty in Argentina vs Poland so idk why there's a new set of tears now.
As long as the ball is in play, any foul is considered a penalty (reason why Szczesny's touch on Messi was awarded as a penalty after Messi headed the ball).
So they're just being consistent.

Here the ball is clearly still in play, Alvarez was the last man & the Keeper caught him with his leg when Alvarez could've gone for the ball.
Unfortunately, the rules don't care if the contact made is deliberate or not.
Eh ref was biased tho?

Outside of pen there were instances of him not calling a clear foul for Croatia?

Prior to penalty, 2 or 3 min before there was a clear foul on Kovacic on counter attack and he didnt call or anything.

We lost due to difference in quality and tactics but ref was def biased towards argentina

Idk about that, didnt really look that carefully to remember.
Any game you can make the argument both ways... iirc Messi was fouled even before this pen by Brozovic at the edge of the box but wasnt awarded as well.
As i said, it goes both ways.

Penalty was clear as day, idk why that's even a point of discussion still

He positioned his leg with a clear intent to foul the player. Regardless of the ball being in or out of play, a clear start such as that one is a foul/penalty.

Imagine if a GK had the ball in hands and just randomly tripped a player up in the box. That's a penalty since the intent was clear.

Eh not discussing pen but other stuff

That foul on Kovacic 2-3 mins prior to pen was a clear yellow card for Argentina and ref did jack shit.
