WG has affinity to get overpowered logia devil fruits.
Maybe Mihawk fucked Dragon up when he was an admiral to get Marine Hunter nick name.
I will die on the wind logia hill I can’t even fathom what else he would be. The story is about Will and freedom, he’s the leader of the freedom fighters, nothing in nature is freer than the wind itself and logias are the most destructive fruits. We’ve seen what someone like Kaido can do w tornadoes and wind slashes, imagine the potential threat of a logia doing this, also imagine the mobility. I’m excited just thinking of this.

Dragon was an admiral, in order to fight against the yonkou, they came with the admirals.
User a few posts up said about dragon losing to mihawk and i agree this could have happened.
As for dragon's powers, there are 3 possibilities:
1: Weather paramecia
2: Hito Hito no mi mythical zoan: Rain GOD from SKYPEIA Just like his son is the sun god and there are other 2 gods with Hito mythical zoans which i believe Blackbeard is also part of them.
3: Wind Logia.
