Questions & Mysteries Will Magellan ever be relevant to the story again?
I've stated it before. I think Oda scrapped this idea but it gives us a power indication while in Impel Down
Magellan = Chief Warden
Shiryu = Chief Jailer
King = Chief Interrogation (torture loving bastard)
I see Magellan being comparable to presumed lower admirals (Fujitora, Green Bull), top CP-0 (Lucci, Mr. Go) and YC1 (Zoro, King, Marco, Katakuri perhaps not Beckman). Crocodile could presumably have gotten close as well during time skip. 1.5-2.5B range.
In a confined space like Impel Down Magellan could be #1 amongst YC1 guys. It's just that much of an advantage. But same goes for Crocodile in Alabasta or Jinbei in Fishmen Island.

His JOB is to literally confine those very YC1 and YC2 in cells and keep them in check.
Two Warlords and a commander of Revolutionary Army arent running away from a mere YC1.
Do you really think 3 of them would run from a guy like Marco or Katakuri? Never.
Magellan is at least equal to Akainu. Full-fledged top tier without a doubt.

Well, the scaling is all over the place due to inflation and haki. Nobody could protect themselves because CoO and CoA wasn't a concept yet.
The two Shichibukai had 81M and 250M respectively and even when unfrozen and working directly for a yonko Jinbei only had 438, lower than the likes of Sasaki or Black Maria...
We also saw Capone, Jinbei, Luffy, Sanji, Pedro, Ceasar not wanting beef with Katakuri. BM pirates not wanting beef with Marco. Queen scared of Zoro.
By all accounts Magellan > Shiryu and Mihawk > Shiryu. And regarding Magellan > BB that is a 1HKO if you don't know his powers. Hyouzou also had same hax with poison, doesn't make him better than Mihawk regardless.

4 commanders of RA fought 2 Admirals while one of them with the backing of 2 Warlords and countless others didnt want any smoke with Magellan... Jinbe's bounty shouldnt be our concern, he is a Strawhat and his bounty still didnt reach the amount he deserves.
He never powered-up since his bounty was unfrozen and if he had the bounty he deserves, he would have made Katakuri look bad.
Luffy alone took on Katakuri. Perospero alone wanted to off Marco... Queen is right to be scared of Zoro.

It is not about knowing Magellan's powers, it's that the entire crew was blitzed before they could even react...

...Again: fighting Magellan has a high chance fatal damage since the guy is poisonous; even for a small dose, you're taking a hugh risk by fighting him in a closed space (another factor you're ignoring here). You can gang up on him all you want, but it'd be stupid if you have the chance to just run and not take the risk of touching a drop of a deadly toxin from the guy so poisonous that even his own body can't stand the toxicity of the fruit.
The Whitebeard Pirates had a transcendet reason to face Sakazuki even if that meant death, while the prisoners' goal was simply to leave. Comparing both situations is fallacious. And even then, Magellan's poison has been depicted to be more dangerous than Sakazuki's magma.
