I was bored yesterday. So, I thought to myself: If I visualize what I think is the certain connection between Shaka and Lucci, then it will be clearer, why I think this connection could push Lucci onto the sides of the Straw hats and therefore being able to become an actual candidate for the last seat on the Sunny.
First is the obvious: The similar posture. Both characters have the same habit of shoving their hands into their pockets. Their gestures are also the same when they are talking/explaining.
The second: Their similar understanding of approaching their goal/fulfilling their duty. To reach it, each of them seems to think that lesser sacrafices are necessary. Someone elses life or even that of their own seems to not be of any importance if it means they can reach their goal (Shaka: Ensuring the Stellar’s safety; Lucci: Protecting the peace of the world)
The third point: The priority is their duty/their goal and both are going to the extreme for it. Shaka even goes so far as to think that he and his fellow Satellites are expendable if it would guarantee the escape of the Stellar. On Lucci’s side we can see that he is not letting anything come between him and his duty to fulfill his mission. He goes crazy in the final fight against Luffy, telling him he will follow Robin wherever she goes and will catch her and see her die – because this was one of his last missions: To escort Robin to the Gates of Justice, to her death.
And while we only see Shaka as the good one - Lucci thinks he is doing - what we think is evil - for the good of the world, because in his understanding of justice (a sacrifice for the world’s peace) it is the right thing to do.
Fourth Point: You will have already noticed how both are making use of a rather eloquent way of speaking. They also speak calm and use logical, plausible approaches, giving the reader insight into their way of thinking.
And the last point: Their similar position in their corresponding formal group. We see both of them often times giving orders or advice. Giving Lucci’s standing, it should be not that awkward for him to do that. Nevertheless, it seems that due to their strategical/tactical proficancy, other members of said groups are valuing their advice/guidance and therefore are specifically looking for them, when a problem/occurance arises. It shows how much of strategical thinker both are.
We see here: Both characters are almost identical twins in their way of thinking, their posture and speech pattern. Only their names have different backgrounds: Shaka being the `good´ and Lucci being the `bad´.
I think their connection will pull Lucci into the problem Vegapunk – and therefore Shaka – has with the WG. If that has not already happened, seeing as Kizaru (an admiral! And a very good fighter himself) was already heading after them to Egghead on a mission of his own, even before he got notice that the Straw hats are on the island, too. It would also explain why Akainu didn’t want Lucci to interact with Luffy under any circumstances, not only to start a war between them but also as to not ally himself with the pirate crew.
My bet is that Shaka is a brother or something like that to Lucci. I hope he will take off that helmet soon. And I don’t think that Lucci is going to remain an antagonist here, but is going to be pushed onto the side of the Straw hats very soon. He is not even obeying orders and rules anymore as we know him.
Also, I want to know what the connection is between Lucci and Kaku: They always seem to be together on a mission. Always. As is they are fused at the hip.
