Ladies and Gentleman, I’d like to formally announce the new front runner for a possible nakama position:
Unit 01 Stussy!
The reasoning for the newest succubus Hottie to hold a position on the crew due to the following themes of one piece:
1. Alienation -
One piece follows the theme of outcasts coming together and creating a round family. Many of the straw hats are people who were not accepted by the world or community they came in and the introduction to the previous chapters starts with this exact sentiment for Stussy:
“Even of the world does not accept how she came to be…”
Stussy’s birth as the worlds first clone already imprints that Stussy would not be accepted in the world if people knew who she was because of how she came to be. Even in real modern day, people call upon cloning experimentation as blasphemous and affront to gods (which was touched on back in Wci). As such, Stussy, being the worlds first clone, would fit with the Straw Hats group dynamic of outcasts.
2. Inherited Will -
Not too long ago, Chapter 1068, we had Vegapunk announce a dream, a dream where he could create a world without war by being able to distribute infinite energy throughout the world! A dream that he connected to Raftel due to the ancient kingdom connection of their unknown power source.
However, this begged the question, who will inherit this will? Just as Chopper inherited Hiriluk, i believe that there’s no better candidate than a scientist who was Vegapunks first greatest creation, Stussy. A unique take on a father daughter relationship.
Beyond the theming of One Piece let’s begin to consider what connects Stussy to the other Straw Hat females:
Betrayal
Stussy is not the first woman who seems to constantly be jumping from one alignment to another,
Queen of the Pleasure District of the Underground -> CP-0 -> Vegapunk
Rather, this has been par for the course for female straw hats prior to joining. Nami started as a free lancer who “joined” the buggy pirates to betray them, then joined the Straw Hats to betray them for the Arlong pirates leading to the inevitable joining of the straw hats.
And Robin follows a similar story line, the entire Baroque Works saga followed Robin constantly helping and betraying both Crocodile and Vivi leading to Robins final act of betrayal against crocodile.
Stussy following this theming is a rather interesting detail, and would also align well with her joining, at least as a tag along for a short time.
Of course there are more reasons, such as Edison stating that helping Vegapunk would force Stussy to be chased by the government and specifically ”Driven out of Home.”
Not to mention Stussys connection to future and past arcs are insane:
1. She knows what happened to Lulusia
2. She was at the Reverie
3. She has strong connections to the underworld
4. She was there during MADs
5. She has connection to the Rox Pirates and although unconfirmed, likely weevil and Bakkin
6. She knows the inner workings of the WG.
All in all, Stussy as a nakama, or very least a tag along has damn near infinite possibility and insane impact on the story.
Although she’s yet to showcase a pirate role, she does have a series of special skills one of which the straw hats lack, information. Robin knows the past, Nami knows the weather, but moving forward the straw hats can only benefit by someone who understands the world government and the under world.
