Option A: More increased AoE, I think this would be pointless as Logia already have big AoE abilities, its just the same thing but the bigger.
Option B: What is the first ability that impressed people when they see Logia? It was Smoke logia and no one was able to touch it since the Haki concept wasn't established yet. Its the defensive ability make it look like ''invincible''. Oda also used this term for Lightning logia, its called ''one of the invincible abilities''.
But after Haki concept is established, that ''invincible'' ability lost its meaning a lot.
Then Oda introduced us Kaido's Myhtical Zoan Devil Fruit ability, and as well as Marco's Mythical Zoan DF ability, those abilities are called ''invincible'' this time:
Why they were called like that?
Both instances were after they took an attack, and the invincibility was related to their defensive ability. Because both abilities, unlike the Logia, have also defensive mechanism vs. Haki imbued attacks as well.
You would need extremely high level Haki such as Oden's or Garp's to hurt their ability, not even average or good level Haki was able to hurt them. Which is why they were called ''invincible''.
So, by going with this logic, the Logia Awakening, should make the Logia ''invincible'' again.
With Logia awakening, perhaps Logias will also get their defensive mechanism work again vs. even Haki imbued attacks, as some Mythical Devil Fruits still works such as Dragon's very tough scale or Phoenix's regenerative flames.
Perhaps that's how Admirals were still able to dodge and not take any damages vs. Haki imbued or Anti element attacks, just the pain or internal shockwave:
Aokiji:
Kizaru:
Akainu:
Ryokugyu:
It doesn't look like Katakuri's Future Sight dodging or similar to that body replacing thing, and it doesn't look like blocking with Haki because:
1- They are being occupied by the attacks, Katakuri dodges and counters right after.
2- It looks like the attacks hurts them, Katakuri doesn't get hurt when he dodges via future sight, or even created an internal shockwave such as Jozu's attack on Aokiji that made Aokiji bleed internally but not externally, or Momo's dragon fire attack on Greenbull and Marco's attack on Akainu, they scream in pain, but there isn't a physical damage, when Crocodile faced with an anti-element attack however, it hurt his physical body as well, or the rubber hurt Enel's physical body, that's the difference.
So could it be this superior Logia defense mechanism the awakening of Logia?
- Haki imbued attacks doesn't give physical damages, just hurts them or gives internal shockwave damages.
- Only Advanced Haki attacks (such as it happens with Mythical Dragon and Phoenix Zoans) can hurt them, or other awakened DF abilities
We also know Darkness logia is special amongst the other Logias due to its ability to take damage unlike the other Logia:
Noticed the second panel in the last pic, it neutralizes the attack even though his ability doesn't give him any defensive power. If that's awakened, then it would be like that at maximum, and it can devour anything like the last attack where Ace used his strongest Flame Emperor (Sabo's name now) attack which was consumed half of the island, and reminder that Ace was able to destroy mountain size Banaro rocks with lesser attacks:
Perhaps with awakening, BB won't need to maximize his darkness like this and it will automatically give him a defensive ability, which was the only missing piece in his Logia.
If BB (without Tremor DF) had this kind of presumed awakening, instead of low-mid diff, he would neg diff YC2 level fighter such as Ace, who was able to burn even WB's hand and overpower Jinbe's and Yamato's Haki defenses before being a commander, and was able to stop Aokiji's attack on Marineford even when Ace was nerfed.
The reason why I came up with this awakening Logia theory because the earlier concepts for Darkness Logia was exactly like this:
Databook Green: ''In One Piece Green: Secret Pieces it is written that Black Beard was originally supposed to be so strong that he was even unbeatable by the three admirals. In the original setting for Black Beard’s power, Oda did make him very strong. In his early design, Black Beard was unable to feel hot, cold, pain or even numbness. His only weakness was being unable to swim.''
So originally, Oda designed Darkness Logia of BB as the defensively perfect Devil Fruit, the only weakness was its not being able to swim. It wouldn't even feel pain or numbness. Perhaps with Logia awakening, it will turn into exactly like this.
Which is why this could also apply to the other Logia abilities, with Logia awakening it could increase the defensive ability of the Logia.
Option C: While Paramecia awakening turns the environment like Logia when Doflamingo and Katakuri used it, or Kid used it turn other living beings and non-magnetic things into magnetic objects. Perhaps Logia awakening can control living beings when its awakened. There is an interesting detail in the SBS about Aokiji's Logia devil fruit ability:
Question: ''Is it possible to make kakigōri out of Aokiji? P.N. Baka-Inu''
Oda: ''Yes, it's possible. After-all, he's ice. But, eating it might be a different story. He might return to Aokiji in your stomach and take control of you.''
-- SBS Vol.71
Perhaps with Logia awakening, the elemental powers can control the living beings not only the environment when its in contact or with a touch.
Option D: Give your own theory.
