So alabasta is arguably one of the most interesting yet important areas in the lore currently:
1. It was a founding nation of the world government
2. It showed signs of being allied with the ancient kingdom in the war as it holds a Poneglyph describing the location of one of their greatest weapons
3. We know this Poneglyph was passed down generations according to Cobra
4. Vivis picture was held by Imu along with Luffy, Blackbeard, and Shirahoshi (3 major characters in the world)
So why is that?
I believe a hint may be in Vivis family name, the Nefertari. For those who don’t know it’s based on an Egyptian Queen Nefertari. Queen Nefertari is one of the most popular queens; however, the most auspicious thing is that Nefertari husbands was Ramses II a pharaoh known for bringing Egypt into the golden age; and in Judeochristian mythology was the Pharoah of the time when Moses led Israelites to the promised land. And it’s quite possible Ramses the great (as he’s commonly known as) was Odas inspiration for Imu.
So what’s the connection here?
1. Ramses the Greats other name is Ozymandias which means “A Great Man who’s once been forgotten” - The perfect name for a Imu who was forgotten by the world
2. Ramses the Greats story is that of a holy man freeing his people from the slavery of Ramses’ country - The story is leading to Luffy freeing the fishman from persecution and the slaves
3. This story involves the splitting of the seas (what many believe will occur in the final fight) and above all, the Ten Commandments written in stone (A straight connection to the Poneglyphs)
So yeah, it’s possible that Imus past isn’t that of an alien, but of a king of Alabasta. And the reason Alabasta is connected to both sides is because the first Queen Nefertari, actually changed sides in the war while Imu stayed as a part of the WG.
The other implication of this theory is that Imus power, is connected to the Kings Blessing which always brought rain to Alubarna. And if Imu truly is from 800 years ago and has that power, it’s possible he mastered it to the point that he truly can control the ocean itself.
