I am here in USA, as a grad student and I can tell you It's pretty chill. The University official emails shove it in my face, but that's about it. I have actually TA'ed for LGBTQ people for 2 years without knowing that they were LGBTQs. It's the media that is the culprit.
Of course those of us who has children going to school here are a bit more frustrated.
I am more frustrated with corporations and media shoving it in my face than I am with that community.

Children aren’t having bottom surgery. The process is extremely difficult even for adult trans people.
For a 6 year old, the extent of transition would just be a social transition.

1. Sex =/= gender.
2. The gender of a trans person is the gender they are identifying to. So it's completely logical for a transgender men to be "gay" if they love men and to be "straight" if they love women.
