I've loved Egghead so far, but, I honestly hope this is the last set-up chapter.

We all knew Luffy and Zoro weren't losing to Lucci and Kaku, if Oda actually wants to finish this series soon, he needs to get into the meat of the arc faster.

The Reverie started before Wano, stop dick-teasing and actually get into the plot. The lore in this arc has been great, and so have the character moments and hype moments, but, it needs to pick up.

As much as I'd love for this to be the last set up chapter, we are still in line for the "Kizaru lands on Egghead" and "Kizaru stands on Sentomaru" chapters

Wait for more set up, in two chapters I can see Kizaru getting a call from Sakazuki saying, β€œDon’t move, I’m coming to join in the fight.” With Morgan’s pushing this straw hats vs marines fight

I have come to terms that Oda just draws what he wants/makes him happy. He clearly had fun with the Mark 3 designs and that double spread with the crew and punks. Those spreads with a 100 characters in it is like his favorite thing lol. He also really seems to be enjoying the Kuma stuff too, its some of his best panel work this arc.

All in all, Id rather he continue to draw what he wants for 10-15 more years instead of hating his work the next 5 by rushing and then never finishing.

But yeah 99% chance Kizaru arriving in 3 different places will be setup cliffhangers lol

If Sentomaru gets us Kizaru backstory, I'll tolerate that. I'm just kind of sick of the revolving Vegapunks, endless Kumas, and Bonney already.

Ever since the start of Wano, Oda has made the focus of the arc nearly unbearable. The Scabbards, Momo, the endless Oden wank were so overdone; all the best parts of the Wano, to me, were from outside of Wano. Kaido, Roger, Whitebeard, Kid, Killer, Law, etc.

Egghead is the same, I love what's going on around the arc, but I already find Vegapunk and Bonney to be boring as fuck.

It's ridiculous how much more impactful one page of Kizaru pouring tea for a Gorosei is than 15 chapters of baiting us about Bonney's past.

No way this series ends within that ridiculous time frame they announced if Oda keeps on dragging plots out like this. The story has so much shit going on, that Oda doesn't want the main storyline to get too far ahead, so it just drags. I don't think it's just the breaks, either. I love Egghead Island as an arc, but besides Lilith and Shaka, all the characters introduced on this island are boring the shit out of me.

Thank Nika for Stussy

In the end, its always been the same issue: too many characters

- On a smaller scale, did we need 7 punks this arc? Lucci and Kaku? Probably not, but its just something he wanted to do, and now that will factor into whatever the rest of the arc needs to address

- On a larger scale, we have 2 Yonko, Marines and WG left to handle, and thats notwithstanding hints to Underworld, Silver Medalist, Rocks, or a possible hint to a separate Elbaf threat. This arc (hopefully) will resolve Kizaru, but at the end of the day, thats just 1 admiral of 5 (including Aokiji) not being handled by the plot lol.

So on a smaller scale, you question how long the arc will be, and a larger scale, you wonder what the next arc will tackle a Yonko or additional Marine/WG personnel, IF that. Even after 25+ years, its....overwhelming.

He wants to finish in 3 years tho. No countries to save, no princesses, no side characters to develop and Oda is forced to go straight to the point.
1) You are reading Egghead right now, and peoples number one complaint with the arc already is too many characters and pacing lol. 6 of the Punks are side characters.....

2) Oda already went back on the 3 years comment twice. Once in the same interview, where he jokingly said "3 years", then said "Actually, I dont know", and the 2nd time was when he talked about the final arc and said to "Relax, Im not rushing and it will take a while, so enjoy"

3) We know full well that we arent going to Laugh Tale anytime soon, considering Oda made Luffy's journey the longest when leaving Wano

4) As a result, we are all but guaranteed Fullalead and Elbaf arcs in the LEAST.

The punks are completely useless, it's all about the main body and Shaka.
The Strawhats go to fullalead and then what? They fight. There's nothing else to do there, there's no hidden King or oppressed people to save. The fights last 20 chapters, it's the buildup that takes 100+ chapters.

Thats my point. You said they werent side characters. There are, and Oda focuses on them....

After 1000+ chapters, do you seriously think Oda has the crew "go to an island and just fight" lol? Where have you been? When has that happened? Nothing in this series is like Marineford. Nothing. Not even Enies Lobby, which has atrocious pacing for nearly 30 chapters before fights started.

We're talking about different things, most of the Vegapunks panels are with the Strawhats, nothing compared with the Tama, Raizo, etc, chapters.

It's happening now, the Strawhats are a Yonkou crew and they only have to worry about Cody instead of saving a whole country.

Bro, the plot has little to do with pacing. Dressrosa was a 100+ chapters saving a country. WCI was 80+ chapters where half of it was running from Big Mom lol.

Oda can make an arc last as long as he wants. Hypothetically "Saving" Coby has nothing to do with Oda introducing a bunch Silver Medalists or BB subordinates on Fullalead. What if the Strawhat fleet all arrives there, then Fullalead would have the same problems as Dressrosa or Wano

We cant just simplify plotlines that havent happened yet. 95% of you guys didnt even think a Vegapunk arc was happening, or that it was as simple as "escaping the island" yet here we are 15 chapters in with no semblence of it ending.

Say what you want about the Vegapunks and Bonney but at least they are a playing a major role in this arc, and compared to the other arcs like Dressrosa and Wano the cast of characters in Egghead is not that bad.

In Wano Oda kept introducing too many characters, and only a very few played a major role during that arc.

Remember the Numbers, Yakuza bosses, Oniwabanshu, Hotei and the Mimawarigumi, and the many named SMILE users, Oda would keep introducing these guys and none of them played any major role and they all felt like waste of panel.

Other than the characters outside of Egghead, the only characters focused on Egghead itself besides the SHs are just the Vegapunks, Bonney, Kuma(who is not on Egghead but is still getting some character focus), Stussy, Lucci, and Kaku.

And again at least Oda is actually focusing on these guys, and didn't introduce them for no reason unlike the many characters during the Wano arc.

Also when we get to Elabf which I'm assuming will be the next big major arc, expect Oda to introduce many new characters some of whom might not even play any major role.

Lastly with the way this chapter went down, with Kizaru and Saturn still coming, and with Oda's comment saying that One Piece is not going to be ending anytime soon, expect this current arc to drag on a bit more longer.

I just hope it won't drag for too long like over 60 chapters.

Personally, it can be 50-60 chapters as long theres merit. If we get important lore drops from Kuma's fb or Kizaru's history with Vega or Saturn's dialogue, then great. If Kizaru brought some VAs and Saturn brought some God Knights that give the crew power growth moments, then awesome, the arc can last the rest of the year.

If its like WCI and we get 80+ chapters with only Luffy fighting, then thats not good. We will still, after Egghead, have too many characters to deal with anyway.

Yeah, just, Oda has an amazing imagination, but at some point he just tries to squeeze too much into one place. Dressrosa in the anime was hell to watch at points, just so slow. And Wano got ever worse at times.

I hope Elbaf won't be too wild, and be like, 30-40 chapters.

I think this arc will end with Egghead getting destroyed, so, I could see about 15 chapters left at most, probably a bit less.

This arc feels like it's setting up Ancient Technology/Ancient Weapons and Elbaf. We'll see what actually happened to Vegapunk.

Lol I remember back during the WCI days when so many people thought that Luffy and the others would simply go to WCI rescue Sanji, and simply escape but that didn't happen and the arc lasted all the way to 78 chapters.

It's the same thing with Egghead, many people thought that we would simply come to Egghead learn some stuff and then quickly escape with Vegapunk.

I might be ok with the arc being 50 chapters but 60 chapters or more ehhh I'm not too sure, but if the the arc somehow stays constantly good then I'll be fine with that.

But I still feel like if the arc drags out for way too long then it will go downhill, Dressrosa, WCI, and Wano all suffered from this where those arcs started off good but then they dragged on for way too long and then they started to go downhill.

I just don't want Egghead to suffer the same fate as those arcs.

Exactly. Its a repeated effect where people think Oda wont create or develop an actual plot for future arcs and just do lore drops specifically because hes made comments about the series getting closer to the end (which hes now contradicted).

Its the same song and dance with Vegapunk, now ive been hearing it lately with Fullalead and Elbaf, and thats assuming they are even next. Nothing in this series has pacing like Zou did, yet everyone now thinks Zou is the arc standard lol.
