It's just that their trial was decided by a jury.
And what tends to happen in jury trials is a matter of "performance".
It's not a matter of "what's true or false", etc.
Gigantic media repercussion + jury = wins whoever convinces them with charisma rather than evidences.

It's much so that he was convicted prior in another trial.
And STILL ended up not 100% "clean" on the last one.

These movie stars are really fucked up any any sort of way.
