Its obviously Blackbeard. Thats why Oda included Blackbeard in the worst generation. Blackbeard is a parallel to both Whitebeard and Xebec just like Luffy is a parallel to both Joyboy and Roger or Zoro is a parallel to both Ryuma and Rayleigh etc.

It looks like people didn't understand what WB's function was in the series so you are searching for a replacement.

WB was a placeholder for Roger's throne until he gave up on his seat and told his men to follow Luffy instead during the war.

Does Luffy need a placeholder after he dies? Thats what you basically asking. Pirate era will probably finish after Luffy dies so no need for a WB replacement.

BB is the combination of both Xebec's and WB's legacy. Only that BB won't be a placeholder like WB after Luffy dies. And there won't be any need for placeholder as well since everything will be different.

Agreed. I was going to say the same. Whitebeard was created so that we could see a glimpse of strength the PK had, the respect and fear he commanded even from foes. There is a reason why Buggy explicitly mentioned WB was Roger's equal.

Whitebeard was created as a surrogate for Roger, since he was already dead. Easiest way to showcase the kind of power and fear the Pirate King commanded, is to create a character of equal standing to him, and have him in the modern day.

There will be no "Whitebeard" to Luffy's Roger, because there doesn't need to be. Whitebeard existed for the sole purpose of portraying what Roger was. Luffy will have no equal come EoS, outside of Blackbeard, who will be Luffy's greatest foe, like Xebex was Roger's greatest foe.

Luffy is both Roger and WB. WB trusted him to lead the battle for him, Luffy is also ''white'' just like him now. Luffy took WB's territory fishmen island, and took Jinbe, used Marco, and Izo in Wano etc. People literally remembered WB when Luffy saved fishmen island, Roger never did that. Roger also never become Yonko (wasn't a thing back then) Luffy become one just like WB.

BB is both Xebec and WB. BB stole WB's power, WB's territories etc as well.

WB is second to both Roger and to Xebec. WB was underling to Xebec and Roger surpassed WB when he become PK.

WB is the second part of both Luffy and BB. Thats what WB's function is, being second.

Its not as important as Roger or Xebec who had much bigger roles than WB had in the series.

But anyways, I would actually love for this to happen. Luffy never won that fight, Katakuri just helped push Luffy to a new level and then threw the fight instead of claiming victory. Freed of his mental shackles being Big Moms watch dog he could end up becoming a big problem for anyone.

Sure u may say I’m wanking zoro to hard lol but I truly believe the only one that could rival luffy is Zoro, he has the same coc coating and the weakness to luffy. One of the main difference to me from the strawhats vs rhp and roger pirates is shanks never had mihawk( current wss) roger never had wb( wsm) but luffy has zoro who will be leagues above Beckmann and above mihawk… eos top two luffy and zoro they will be the top two in strength imo.

It's not just rivalry. In the old generation, Roger and Whitebeard were the top two pirates. Luffy and Blackbeard are clearly being built for that for the new generation.
