It's a normal practice, other shows have done so as well in the past. Writing a season script takes months... Writing it beforehand and in case it gets renewed means they can already jump into production and not waste time/months in the writing process. Which means a Season 2 would come out faster.

I'm explaining for those interested since I already know your take on the show.
