I said his dumbness/selfishness barely affects the story, not his actions/decisions in general. His flaws are there for comedy value mostly.

I'm not countin things like him punching a CD cause that's not meant to portray his flaws but his qualities.

now you are just talking in circles, some of the things Luffy does are outcome of his dumb/straightforward attitude. Like using carps to climb the waterfall, punching laboon, fighting Kaido first round etc. some of these dumb actions benefit him, some put him in trouble.

A legitimate defeat means that the character should not be a sorrow loser,accept it and move on.

Kaido too, loved by his men, feared by many, and bla bla.
