Vivi still has a chance to join. The problem is we don't know where Big News Morgan's airship is or where it's heading. Until we know that information Vivi remains in a kind of limbo. If we knew that they were headed away from Egghead or in Paradise we could almost 100% rule her out. And I voted for her. If they are heading toward Egghead though new possibilities open up. Hopefully we get an answer in the next three chapters before Oda's next break.

And you forgot a couple as well, between the Revs' attack, Kuma's freedom, the introduction to the CD's personal police system, Wapol's return, Koby meeting Vivi: all of which are important for future plot, not Vivi alone.
It leads to the Seraphim, which:
-fuels more of the Lunarian plot;
-fuels more of the DNA research plot (and therefore current Vegapunk's plot);
-sets up the End War.
It also sets up Cross Guild, which will play a role in the End War.
