Don't you know the difference is that Mihawk is a swordman first, hakiman second. Whereas Shanks is a hakiman first, swordsman second
Anyway, what I truly want to know is why Shanks would have multiple battles with Mihawk to begin with since he is not a swordsman and get majority of his fame from Mihawk. Why didn't he go around fighting Kaido who is not a swordsman. He would have gotten alot of fame from that.

Another perspective we need to look at is the fact that, Shanks got more fame from fighting Mihawk than he did from becoming a yonko.
People downplay Mihawk and hype yonko but somewhow the One piece verse knows Shanks more due to his fights against Mihawk than the fact that he is a yonko. If becoming a yonko eclipsed Mihawk by a lot, Shanks would be more famous for becoming a yonko than for fighting Mihawk but that is not the case.

Never knew cowardice was rewarded.
He is both actually yet while he was a contender for the WSS title since he left his arm he has lost that chance. Be from that point or be it from even before he developed and trained CoC to an incredible level. After that point he still uses a sword and he is strong with it but his main power comes from his CoC a bit like the clash of WB and Roger they used blades as mediums but that was a clash of haki.

First thing Whitebeard recall about Shanks are his duels with Mihawk, not him becoming a Yonkou
This is a pretty much a fact
Also, Oda used Mihawk name in chapter 96 to hype Shanks
Plus, also in Ace novel Mihawk name is used to hype Shanks
Zoro fans have to understand that in Oda's and other authors mind it is Shanks that is leeching off Mihawk's hype
Fandom thinks quite the opposite though, but this is a misconception born because fans overhype yonko status
Think of it this way:
Whitebeard uses a Bisento. Big Mom uses Nepoleon, Kaido uses a giant club. However, you all know for a FACT that all 3 can just drop those weapons fuck up anyone in their path, with their devil fruits or anything else.
This is the logic I see with Roger, Rayleigh and Shanks. They have swords, yes, but the moment they are actually serious (and we have yet to see it), they fight entirely different. We already know Rayleigh can fight perfectly fine without a Sword.
Mihawk on the other hand is an actual swordsman, so is Fujitora. Their fighting styles entirely rely on the weapons they use. I don't believe that to be the case for Shanks especially. Mihawk is consider the worlds strongest swordsman, yet he's not a Yonko or anything related to that influence (though he may be close to that strength).
It think its very like that if Mihawk or Shanks were to fight, Shanks would eventually drop his blade and fight how he normally would, just like Whitebeard/BM/Kaido. Shanks likely doesn't have the finesse Mihawk has with a blade. THAT is the difference.
