Don't you know the difference is that Mihawk is a swordman first, hakiman second. Whereas Shanks is a hakiman first, swordsman second
Anyway, what I truly want to know is why Shanks would have multiple battles with Mihawk to begin with since he is not a swordsman and get majority of his fame from Mihawk. Why didn't he go around fighting Kaido who is not a swordsman. He would have gotten alot of fame from that.

Another perspective we need to look at is the fact that, Shanks got more fame from fighting Mihawk than he did from becoming a yonko.
People downplay Mihawk and hype yonko but somewhow the One piece verse knows Shanks more due to his fights against Mihawk than the fact that he is a yonko. If becoming a yonko eclipsed Mihawk by a lot, Shanks would be more famous for becoming a yonko than for fighting Mihawk but that is not the case.
That is food for thought.
