I guess that makes sense.
There's also a lot I still love about OP, recent and old, a lot of stuff post TS even but it feels drowned out in all the stuff I hate about post TS too. I'm not as vocal about it but I have thought of making "underdog threads" discussing what Post TS arcs have done right, not necessarily better but just "right" at least.

I do think some things are better post TS and my biggest issue is just the spam of silhouettes, new characters, mysteries and plotlines, the pacing and such but I love a lot of things about post TS too.

One Piece has gotten too grand for its own good imo, too big, too convoluted, too oversaturated etc. I really miss the series focusing around the SHs and being a crew together and having adventures too as well. The simplicity/humility of post TS, especially before the Marine and WG saga of the last arcs of the pre TS.

I might make a "in defense of post TS" type thread soon, discussing what I love and enjoyed post TS and seeing who agrees with my thoughts and what other parts people enjoyed post TS and why too.

Yeah there are things I really miss when the story wasn't as grand as it is now. The Zoro things really didn't bother me that much since I don't think it's as relevant to Zoro's character as people think. What really bothered me was the Chopper smile side of things. I genuinely believe that was a big fumble on Oda's part.

Yeah I forgot who said it unfortunately but someone said here recently, Zoros lineage doesn't matter. We fell in love with Zoro pre TS for who he was, who he was now, just like Luffy and all the other SHs. I mean one of OP's themes is you are not guilty of the sins of your fathers (and mothers and such), you are your own individual with your own identity, responsibilities, choices, freedom, consequences etc. I really love that about One Piece especially.

Someone else argued Chopper not being able to cure the smiles is a sign that he "cannot cure everything" and thus its a grim realisation for him, to help him grow up and see reality for what it really is and thus feel what others like Rogers crew, especially Crocus felt when they couldn't save Roger from his fatal illness for example. I can't say I like this but I get it, I understand it. Its just unusually grim for a series that is all about death defying rebellion and ambitions, relentless resilience and dreams that never die.

Choppers backstory is one of my favourite ones and some of the best writing of OP imo. This is just depressing for me, but maybe in future, Oda will change his mind and have the Smile afflicted victims get cured somehow via a Caesar redemption arc, maybe even MADs as a whole and thus involve Vegapunk especially.

I expected too much from OP after Sabaody, Marineford and the timeskip and such and I feel OP is suffering from the Icarus effect, like other series did but much worse given how much longer, bigger, more complex and literally over a 1000 characters OP has now I think. From what was supposed to be a 5 year story has now surpassed 25 years, 5x the original plan and will be 30 plus by the time its done imo. Theres no way it can end in a few years without being rushed as hard as Bleach was especially, which NOT something that should ever happen to any series, especially One Piece of all series.
