I feel like if it was accidental, he wouldn’t act that confident to take a punch to the face.

I just don't see how he does it. For transformations, Oda's always been pretty good at explaining what the character does. Like Luffy's gears pumping blood faster or inflating and such.

Is Sanji's by will, a thought to turn it on, charging up like SSJ, an innate sense? Hardening like Haki? It's just kind of confusing.
