It's one stuff that keeps adding up to other stuff in the manga. Latest before this being Shanks outright being called a swordsman in Mihawk's bounty chapter.
Shanks used his sword to do that "wifi haki" thing too. Since when has using haki prevented anyone from being a swordsman? Zoro isn't one either I suppose lol.
It keeps happening cause every time Shanks does something, it always ends up being with sword. Headcanons falling every time, while you laughing about "inferiority complex" lmao

Let's argue that Kamusari wasn't a swordsmanship specific move but Shanks just channeling his Haki through the blade to affect the opponent with a pure Haki blast. Does that really exclude him from being a swordsman? It just means that was one specific application of Haki through his sword, while Zoro uses that exact same Haki (armament and Haoshoku) but with a different application, which is cutting. Now do you think Zoro in the pursuit of his dream distinguishes between those using hakified cutting through their blades or hakified shockwaves?
Shanks was still called a proficient swordsman who has a "beloved" blade with a long history of battles. And if even Mihawk himself as the WSS, who has a strict codex and takes great honor in his swordsmanship, considered Shanks his rival in swordsmanship, I don't see why Zoro would not consider him a peer? Mihawk considering Shanks a peer is the nail in the coffin. And we know the reason Mihawk didn't uphold the rivalry wasn't because Shanks "switched to non swordsmanship specific Haki blasts" but because he sacrificed strength as he found a goal more worthy than his rivalry with Mihawk, which is the new generation.

Most zoro/king/mihawk stans or what yall want to go by don't even acknowledge s-hawk or any of the seraphim as being comparable to king
If they're significantly weaker than him even with s-hawk cutting Amazon lily that means the feat itself is hallow and meaningless
