What do Sanji fans actually gain from downplaying Mihawk? I thought portrayal showed that Zoro and Sanji are close in strenght so wouldn’t it be good for him if Zoro defeats someone stronger than Shanks?
Taking a moment from the Kidd/Shanks stuff, I like the idea that York is actually kind of stupid and that her plan wouldn't have worked, even if the Straw Hats never came to Egghead.

cause you have infact now separated sword styles/skill from other very important aspects of one's strength . haki most notably which by far seems to be the biggest factor.
Just a quick reminder that Mihawk will probably be defeated and die really soon in the One Piece timeline, so better not put the bar so high to not be disappointed when that happens.
what doesnt make sense
if you argue brannew is saying mihawk is stronger than shanks because he has better swordsmanship
you cant then assume shanks is equal to roger based on the similarities in how they fight at all.they would have to be equally as strong for their swordmanship to be on par.

The narration here is different. Luffy did lose. The wording for the narration for Kid seems to be "complete defeat" or "annihilation" because its clearly a riff on what happened to Luffy in Sabaody
