Well, they are supposed to be deterrent. But what happens when two nuclear armed powers go into a state of war? I'm not willing to go down that road. Even if there is just a 2% chance of nuclear war, I'm not wiling to take that plunge.

We have NATO for a reason. An invasion on a NATO state is like invading the United States itself. It's a threat to our territorial integrity and therefore retaliation is justified. Russia might see the invasion of Belarus in a similar light.
