We already saw law an Hawkins fight 1 on 1. It ended with Hawkins never scratching Law, his back up being destroyed, an law figuring out how his ability works.

They clashed equally. Law wanted to defeat Hawkins, but he couldn't do that. Law's initial attack was redirected by Hawkins.
Law figuring out how Hawkins' devil fruit works only speaks for his intelligence, but at the end of the day, he was still outsmarted by Hawkins.

Law schooled the kid honestly.... Why would he need help later?

Law didn't do anything. He ran way from Hawkins all the time lol.
Also, without Drake or whoever that person was, Law would still be in prison.
