Zoro’s backstory is tied with the Void Century and Ryuma which is why we know nothing about him yet. I suspect his goal is influenced by having Ryuma’s blood. We will see more of his clan, Kaido and Toki after the old Wano flashbacks.

Oda doesn't need to be depth with Zoro. Just give him human traits like he had pre-timeskip. And stop making him saying things that we won't accomplish like inviting samurais at wano.
