By the same "logic" some of them are using, Kaido was being no-diff him in 1010 by a base form Luffy lol.
And I am sure some Admiral hater, because to say that you have to be a hater, would have said that if instead of Kaido there was an Admiral doing the exact same things.
And Kaido wasn't undercover, wasn't the very start of the fight and most of all Luffy was not his mentor and someone he owes big.

I think people read to much into it. Shanks wants Luffy to become pirate king but will not make it easy on him. Meaning he will fight him any test him and only if Luffy can beat him will he let him be. It’s like a final test for Luffy.
As for Barto, although Barto works for Luffy shanks can not let him disrespect him like that. He is a Yonkou and has a reputation. He needs to protect his territory even from Luffy’s allies.
