Well Katakuri is taller then Luffy by a great margin not an excuse. And same with hybrid Kaido. Hybrid Lucci is logically also much taller than Luffy too.
True, and Luffy vs Katakuri did have its issues with this. But also, animating sword fights is just more difficult than animating hand to hand stuff, especially when the size difference is so drastic. Its really hard to do anything in terms of choreography or interesting sword play. Zoro just isn't as agile as Luffy, with Luffy's fighting style just being more gymnastic.

You can't really do much with sword skills with Zoro.

Also, most of the fight this episode was fine?

It was a bit rough around the edges in areas, like the first bout, but it wasn't mostly perfectly serviceable.

Somehow Im nostalgic over the Mr.1 and Killer fights.

The direction for that Mr 1 vs Zoro fight was great, but that scene is the pinnacle of dragon ball action. Random "ATATATATATA" looped frames.

I don't believe no one is noticing that.

What an atrocious episode.

They completely ruined the Shishi SonSon. Why tf was king just standing there like an idiot when in the manga he was walking towards zoro and then zoro blitzed him. Didn't even have the same impact as the manga.

On top of that they decided to break up such a good chapter into 2 episodes and completely breaking the flow of the flashback.

The next episode looks mid as well. The final episode will probably be average as well. Any hopes of this fight getting saved by final episode won't change how garbage this fight was.

There is no indication that he was walking towards Zoro in the manga. He was standing in the dust. Thats it.

Still not 6 meters tall, and that wasn't specifically a sword fight. Gyukimaru's pole gives more range and diversity for fighting moves(and even then, a lot of that fight took place in the air to compensate).

Again, the best episode of this fight will be the last one.

This fight only really heats up next episode and the final chapter.

You can be more creative fighting with a pole than you can with a sword. You can do cool stuff such as spinning them around and using a variety of attack options due to changing how you hold the pole.

Swords you have to hold by the hilt, and have to fight using a very specific way.

Thats why most of the fight from Kings POV, is downward slashes, because there is no other slash that will hit Zoro realistically.

Anyway, I was satisfied with the level of animation this leve considering this is a B list episode.

Next week already look more polished, though it probably won't have as much action unless they add a filler scene for Zoro slashing Kings mask.

He was walking towards zoro, the anime did show that a lil bit but then King just decided to stand in front of zoro like an idiot without doing anything.

While in manga when zoro uses shishi sonson immediately while king was walking. We can see when SS hits king he was out of the smoke from explosion.

SS is blitz attack ever since it was introduced. And the anime has failed to depict it as such. The last time SS was done justice in the anime was Kuma.

Not necessarily?

The Sanji episodes weren't all bangers either. They were typical pretty standard with selective increases in quality scattered throughout.

This episode is more in line with what the Sanji episodes have actually been like, and next episode will likely be a more noticeable quality jump.

Bro, what are you waffling about?
No, he wasn't walking. He didn't move in the manga at all from what we can tell. He was literally just standing there.

Where in this page is there any indication of King moving towards Zoro???

You literally just invented parts of the scene that never happened...

Also, how was it not portrayed as a blitz move this episode?

King was covered in the smoke immediately after explosion and when SS hits king he was completely out of the smoke from explosion. That is enough to tell me king was moving towards zoro
SS didn't have the same impact as manga.

A blitz attack is basically where the opponent cant even think of countering and gets hit before they can even move as muscle.
In the anime, King is just standing there waiting to get hit. He chose not to move i.e making it look like the speed of the attack is not great and that king was capable of countering the attack but just wasn't bothered to block the attack.

No, thats just called the passage of time between panels.

Nothing indicated that King was moving forward at all. He was in the same standing stance between that panel which was covered in dust and when he got hit by lion song.

Again, you don't have anything showing he was moving what so ever in the manga either.

He was also waiting for Zoro to get up in the manga as well.

And the attack in the anime was still highlighted as being instant.

Let's agree to disagree here then.

Your not understanding my point. SS is an attack depicted in the manga as speed blitz. In the anime, king literally sees the attack coming but chose not to do anything to counter or block. This is not considered speed blitz, its just king allowing zoro the free hit.

Zoro vs Kuma and Zoro vs Kaku have the best depiction of SS in anime. With Kaku reacting in order to counter it in time, good old fights.

Sure in King's case they wanted to show King's defense ability but that doesn't mean it has to look that shit. The super sayian green was super unnecessary, he'd just coating his sword in haki bruh.
