General & Others Wealth, fame, power, and Sanji

#1

For better or worse the east blue recruits are obviously the most important and focused on. That being even more clear when looking back at rogers speach and what they represent
  1. Nami being the money obsessed navigator (wealth)
  2. Usopp the sniper always lying about how great he is (fame)
  3. Zoro being the meat head swordsman (power)
People always try and place luffy at fame for some reason luffy's reasons for going after the one piece is bigger than any of the reasons listed above. At the same time him representing all of it

But what about sanji? He seemingly doesn't represent the 3 main reasona people go after the one piece but their has to be some type of connection imo

Is it his connections to food, his similar fairy tale like dream, his connections to the sea, or something else

You were on to something with Buggy, Crocodile and Mihawk but I don't think it applies that well to the Straw Hats. Usopp had some fame-related success on Dressrosa but that's the only real instance of it happening.

I'll however say that those really were the 3 starting crewmates, before Sanji, so I guess it is possible Oda had it in mind to some extent when designing them.

Sanji's original theme was a much simpler one of "They obviously need a cook if they're going to be sailing for months".

Zoro = Power
Nami = Wealth
Usopp = Fame

Luffy = Power + Wealth + Fame = Pirate King
Sanji = Pirate King's Wings

EOS Luffy = EOS Zoro (Power-Wise)
EOS Luffy = EOS Nami (Wealth-Wise)
EOS Luffy = EOS Usopp (Fame-Wise)

However, becoming Pirate King isn't Luffy's End Goal
He still needs Wings (Sanji) to fulfill his Secret Dream

Sanji is the man who’ll claim all the ocean has to offer :cheers:

Besides the wealth fame power speech only refers to luffy because he’ll be the man who solely stands at the top.

Besides the east blue straw hats we’re never about Rogers speech. They represents the five tenets of Buddhism:

1. No Killing - Including Animals which is why many Buddhists are vegetarian - Luffys meat obsession
2. No Stealing - Namis thievery
3. No Lustful stares - Sanjis pervy gag
4. No Bearing false witness - Usopps lies
5. No excessive drinking - Zoros alcoholism gags

Rogers speech was purely about what it takes to be the true king, wealth fame and power. Which is why Luffy will embody those three ideals when he becomes pirate king.

You do know that initial concepts not always follow through, right?
If people wanna go for the "romance dawn trio representing each aspect of PK" route, be my guest, but it doesn't work.

Pirate King is someone who achieves ALL 3. luffy doesn't represent "Fame" only.
In a sense, Zoro becoming the WSS and "making his name reach the heavens" would also count as "fame".

It's an interesting idea, but really, REALLY falls apart when you try to dive into it just a little bit, IMO.

Having said that, it makes no sense to address Sanji without addressing Usopp, who's also an East Blue member. Where would he fit?

This "main trio" thing is an extremely common trope in fiction and it's not a surprise Oda initially envisioned these 3 main characters. But it doesn't mean it is some "unspoken rule" that this dynamic would rule the story.

Yes Pirate king represents Wealth Fame and Power but there is one more. It's romance ! You have to believe the one piece even exists first of all to go on such a crazy quest.
Nami= Wealth
Usopp= Fame
Zoro= Power
Sanji= Romance
Honestly that's really good one
One piece is all about romance and sanji is the most romantic strawhat

Why is that? :saden:
Anyways CG makes it obvious that this fan theory has some merit, Nami and Croco - wealth, Zoro and Mihawk - strength, Luffy and Buggy - fame.
Like in every trio that Luffy is a part of he gets more than the other 2 so he also represents wealth and power.
Because hes the only one missing outside of the east blue crew
  1. Nami wants wealth
  2. Zoro power
  3. Usopp fame
Luffy wants freedom and sanji wants romance. Which fits imo

Luffy has always been the one who represents romance, I can't see how can you argue with this. The first chapter of his story is called romance dawn for a reason. And Nami represents the anti romance of the series, it is why Skypiea focuses on these two.

Wealth, fame, and power doesn't fit the strawhats, It doesn't fit CG either, because Crocodile has nothing to do with the concept of wealth.

Sanji is just a side character in Luffy's journey, in fact all of the strawhats are.

Imagine the guy speaking at first episode

"Wealth... Fame.... Power... And Sanji!"

Hahahahaha

His lies coming true in the future doesnt mean they're not lies in the moment
I see some double standards here. When Katakuri say things that will happen in the future it is Future Sight but when Usopp does it is a lie...
