Indeed, but their philosophers are at least philosophers and not someone who got the richest in the world.
Obviously, everything in every philosophers isn't to be taken.
Indeed, it can hardly be argued that he was for equality. His aristocratic society is nothing but a dream though. He deemed that only a few could rise at the top. He also argues that those at the top of the top shouldn't live in society nor should they seek political power because there is no hope for them (and power-greedy people are dumb).
I like his views in general.
The idea that people can't govern themselves is still very much alive nowadays. Macron for instance says things like "the laws about immigration cannot be subject to a public debate because they can't understand its stakes". I'm not pro-Macron btw. But this isn't even pro-slavery or colonialism.
