Character Discussion Katakuri is more a Marco/King or a Yamato/Ace ?

Jimbo is almost 50 too and 3y ago he was weaker than rookie Ace, yet you think he is lot stronger now isn’t it 
?
I’m sad to admit it but Marco was never meant to lead the WBP, he led them against BBP and lost.
Marco wasn’t built for that. He was the best thing a high tier commander can offer but nothing more.
Kata will lead his crew for real and likely follow his own path from now on

So we have a character like Katakuri who first introduced future sight to us (formally anyway) showed Luffy that there are tier levels even when it comes to having armament haki and somehow he can't get any stronger because he's too old?
Erm...I guess Blackbeard doesn't exist, guy was a nobody for 38 years of his life and is now in contention of final villain at age 40.
We also don't know what age is considered old for different races, is Katakuri even human?
The Katakuri slander is too much, if he goes on to lead an entire crew of misfits he will see considerable growth and could become an ally one day. Until we found out that luffy's fruit was Nika, it was clear as daylight to see that the Mochi fruit was superior in every way.

Hes a conqueror
When katakuri isn't restricting himself by putting up mental barriers on what he should be or has to be hes a monster. Like maybe you can argue that pre wci kata was more like the marco/king type but even during the arc he showed potential to be so much more. Even then before wci his family put him on so much of a higher pedestal than any other sibling including the other sweet commanders. Something marco/king dont really get too much of always being compared to characters like jozu (pre marineford) and queen
Like there's a clear difference in the reaction to katakuri and cracker's defeat even
Katakuri was trying to be what he thought his mother and siblings needed to be the best son and brother but at the end of the day he was just stunting his own growth by not being unapologetically him. He didn't even show off his conquerors haki until he took off the scarf and stopped caring what other wanted him to be but what he wanted instead
Now more than ever its time for him to step up and be not what he thinks his family wants him to be but who he wants. With big mom out of the picture and the blackbeard pirates raiding tottoland it really is up to katakuri to take charge and live his life the way he wants. He obviously loves his family but if he stays the way he is hes never going to be as great as he can be. He gave us a glimpse of his true self during his fight with luffy and now he needs to show everyone else what kind of man he truly is

Prime Garp at 48 still got stronger by training his haki before fighting Chinjao
20 years ago, Prime Kaido (39) still got stronger to become WSC later on as Oden told him to get stronger
When it comes to yamato them being being kaido's ace/oden is legit hammered into our faces with how obvious oda tries to make it
Marco kinda opposite to kata was never ment to be that guy but was always put into position where he had to try to act like he was
- Not only does yamato look up to and even want to be called oden
- Yamato even fought ace and if they actually decided to listen to kaido and follow his lead they'd be the ace card of the crew

- First whitebeard had oden who he considered a brother who was that guy at first until he left to join roger then dying
- Leading Marco to have to step up as right hand even tho he obviously was never going to be as great as oden
- Eventually whitebeard recruited ace who like oden obviously had more potential than marco and this case arguably more potential than even whitebeard. Someone who whitebeard might have been planning to make pirate king the same way ace wanted to make him pirate king
- Again marco was never ment to be expected to live up to what ace could do but without ace he had to try and step up even more
- With the death of whitebeard it was between him and blackbeard as to who will take his place and stop the other
- And yet again a battle marco was never ment to win but he definitely tried
- Then we got weevil whitebeards self proclaimed son and miss Buckingham going after whitebeard treasure that doesn't exist beating any wbp or allies they see
- If marco fought weevil and didn't end up teaming up hed likely get his ass beat again sadly
- In a weirdly happy but sad way him knowing his place during the battle on onigashima was probably really good for him. He knew it wasn't his fight to win and he left it up to the next gen to do what they had to do. With him just playing support when needed. He still lost izo tho...

Impossible role to fill for any YC1. Covered mouth Kata would have been stomped all the same.
I personally don’t think Akainu got stronger from his fight with Kuzan.
And the biggest thing stopping kata from getting stronger is simply plot. Like he gets stronger and then what? He’s not important enough to join the fleet and his crew still hates luffy. He goes off and fights Blackbeard pirates just to get hype tooled again? Seems almost worse.
