First of all, Garp did not join the Marines to fight Pirates lol.
Yeah, he just joined cause he thought he looked good in white and blue.
The guy’s whole dilemma in Marineford was because he’s devoted his life to fighting pirates and that’s what his grandkids have became.
There were a lot of big shot pirates after Roger who Garp had no interest in fighting.
I think you are confused.
Garp is the Hero of the Marines who has fought Roger, Rocks and just invaded a Yonko territory. He is the one who has, according to Sengoku, many legends about him and many accomplishments to his name.
Akainu is the guy who has fought one battle against pirates at Marineford and spent all of his time as FA crying about the idea of any Marines actually trying to actually do anything. Oh, and was such a bad choice as leader Kuzan would rather fight him and leave. And had that time he blew up civilian ships.
What a resume.
Garp had a phenomenal opportunity to fight Pirates at Marineford, but instead sat around crying because the revelation that he was actually not free had never crossed his tiny mind before Marineford, and still watching Ace die he somehow didn’t get the message
Again, you are confused.
Garp fought Marco and the Blackbeard Pirates.
He had to struggle with the fact his grandsons had chose a life that put them on opposing sides from him. All about how each of the characters chose the life that led them to where they were.
This is a display of good character writing.
On the other hand, Akainu has all the depth of a puddle and was busy ranting and raving.
No, Garp joined the Marines specifically because he thinks that was the way for him to achieve the most freedom, by earning himself recognition from a slave bearing institution.
Yes, the guy who rejected the Admiral role wants recognition.
A truly superb take.
As for Sakazuki, the man created the strongest Navy of all time. Sakazuki has more IQ points in one brain cell then Garp has in the potato sitting where his brain should be.
The strongest Marines of all time, which has done nothing of note in two years while the world went crazy. And Akainu himself has nothing but defeat in his future.
The irony about Ryokugyu is that Ryokugyu’s ideals may be evil, but at least he has ideals to begin with. Ryokugyu is a guy fighting for what he perceives as the good of the world,
Lmao, Ryokugyu is a nothing more than a thug with a badge. He’s as idealistic as any old shitbag policeman who uses their role to beat people down. He has all the depth of character as this guy
Garp fights for nothing since he is too dumb to have ideals to begin with.
Garp fights for the countless islands that suffer because of piracy.
He’s not perfect, but at least he’s not a braindead savage like Sakazuki.
Now, as for Fujitora. Literally the abolishment of the Shichibukai system by itself did more good than Garp did in his entire meaningless career.
Sure, he’s the Hero of the Marines because he did nothing. Another great take.
Fujitora was a peripheral figure in getting the Warlords abolished
after Luffy had already beaten the evil ones, which has just led to the rise of Cross Guild and Marines getting hunted for cash. Not exactly a raving success.
If Garp were actually smart enough to realize that slavery was a good thing, this idiot would’ve ran into Mariejois screaming “FREE THE SLAVES!!!” like a complete moron before getting his shit kicked in and turned into Doflamingo’s bottom bitch in Impel Down.
Projecting much with the bottom bitch comment?
Akainu’s the one who was made a bitch over Doffy, when the Gorosei made the barking dog get back in his place.
Garp is a character lacking all subtlety, morality, ideology, and IQ points. He should absolutely not be compared to an Admiral, this dude is like if Luffy was somehow even less intelligent and more selfish.
Lmao, imagine reading Marineford and coming away thinking Garp lacks subtelty, morality, ideology, but Akainu has them all in spades. Garp went through actual struggles while Akainu was howling like a monkey about pirates being evil.
IQ, yeah, Garp’s not the brightest, don’t really care about that.
