The era when Marvel and DC could do a "Nobody-Man" movie and make a billion is over. Nowadays,superhero movies can still get a big success of box office and critics,but only the big names,exactly like it was in the early 2000s (with Blade being the only exception i guess). The good news is that these "big names" are more than how much they were in the 2000s. Back then it was only Spiderman,Batman,Superman,Hulk,Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Nowadays there are also Iron Man,Guardians of the Galaxy,Captain America,Thor,Wonder Woman,Deadpool who are big names.
