only 2 Ds have ever died with a smile on their face. Ace and roger.

I highly doubt laws parents died with smiles on their faces.

actually Portgas D rouge also died witha smile on her face… Saul’s fake death also had a smile… and of course Luffy’s almost death to buggy also had a smile… In fact Luffy’s actual sort of death to Kaido, ALSO had Luffy smile before the Nika fruit resurrected him


but you’re right about Law’s family. LawMs sister for example is also a D and she probably didn’t die smiling

I guess the difference is that EVERYTIME and DIES ONSCREEN Oda at least draws the smile… Law’s family died offscreen and cobra died onscreen

Anyway, I don't know about the smile thing. It really was a common trait of the D.s even if not exclusive to them, but we didn't really see Cobra die. He just stood before Sabo and we heard Sabo scream his name.

Sure but this concept of D’s smiling at death was introduced as an identifying marker of them

like if we say all people with no regrets die smiling and even D’s with regrets don’t die smiling, then why the fuck was this ever an identifying marker of D’s in the first place?

like are D’s more likely than regular people to die without regrets? I mean we know about 7 D’s who have died and like you pointed out, Law’s mother or father who was a D and Law’s sister and Cobra are 3 out of those 7… and they seemingly didn’t die with smiles… So that’s almost half of all the Ds we know have died… Doesn’t seem like a very good identifying quality that multiple people around the world just casually know about D people

also have to mention this… All the D’s that died Pre time skip had a smile, even Saul’s fake death and Luffy’s almost death to Buggy… it was only post time skip that Oda introduced Law’s family and now Cobra

I dont think its requirement for every d too smile at their death. Also we dont see final panel with him before death when he fends of imu and Gorosei. You will need to see other version from gorosei.

Eitherway Cobra's death was precalculated he knew something was going to happen he sent away his bodyguards to protect vivi rather than him that is in one way is will of D.

Yeah well Sabo got hit once by Imu and was bandaged up from that one attack OVER A MONTH LATER… remember that he is telling this story while still in bandages from the one attack Imu hit him with a month ago

There is absolutely no reason to believe Sabo wouldn’t have died if Cobra didn’t take the second attack for him

We’ve seen plenty without the D dying with a smile, and I doubt that Law’s parents and Lamy died with a great big smile upon their faces.

Oda likes his dead characters in general to go with a smile, but sometimes that ain’t possible based on the scenario.
